What's Here?

The Washington State Training Network is a team of NRA trainers (range safety officers, instructors, coaches and training counselors) who travel around the Northwest teaching NRA basic classes and certifying experienced shooters as NRA instructors. Below are links to more information about what we do.

NRA Basic Courses - This is a description of the NRA basic courses that we teach and an on-line registration form if you want to register to take a basic course.
Washington state course schedule - If you're looking for an NRA basic course, this is the place!
NRA Instructor List - If you're looking for an NRA certified instructor in your area, click here, This is a nationwide list of NRA certified instructors and the disciplines they teach.

NRA Instructor Training - If you're interested in becoming an NRA certified instructor, click here.

Host an Instructor Training Course - Information and an on-line application for hosting an NRA instructor training course in your area.

Register for the NRA Instructor List - If you're an instructor, this is where you can register yourself so that you appear on the NRA instructor list.

Help Teach Home Firearms Safety - If you are an NRA certified instructor and want to help teach our next Home Firearms Safety Class.

The non-NRA training links are to non-NRA schools. Firearms Academy of Seattle is an excellent school for learning defensive shooting skills (I'm not a disinterested party - I'm their webmaster.) Home Alive is a school in Seattle that teaches self-defense classes on a sliding fee scale - you pay what you can afford. KR Training is located in Austin, Texas and is run by my friend Karl Rehn. Warren Pelton is a friend of mine in Virginia who is a staff instructor at Storm Mountain in West Virginia. Lethal Force Institute is run by Massad Ayoob out of New Hampshire. Thunder Ranch and Gunsite are two world-class shooting schools in Texas and Arizona.

Who is this guy?

I'm an NRA certified instructor and training counselor, certified to teach:

Home Firearms Safety
Basic Rifle
Basic Shotgun
Basic Pistol
Personal Protection
Range Safety Officer
Instructor training in all of the above

I've been a certified instructor since 1992 and a training counselor since 1995.
I've worked on the NRA web site, helping them develop the NRA course locator page, the range locator page and the Refuse To Be A Victim course locator page. In 1998, I donated about $30,000 worth of web site development work to the NRA and coordinated with the Microsoft Gun Club for an additional $5,000 worth of sotware and hardware donations (which I delivered in person to the various departments within NRA.)
